Falcons Plagued With Injuries, Lions Sign New Wide Receiver, and other sports updates

The Detroit Lions signed free agent, New York Giants place line backer Mathias Kiwanuka on injury reserve, and more.

Defensive players Rod Coleman and Trey Lewis of the Atlanta Falcons were placed on IR this week. Coleman for his arm and Lewis for his knee. Both are expected to make full recoveries.

The Detroit Lions signed free agent safety Greg Blue on Nov. 20 after Idrees Bashir was placed on IR.

The New York Giants place line backer Mathias Kiwanuka on injury reserve after a broken left fibula. His return is indefinite at this point.

Anaheim Ducks center Ryan Getzlaf signed a five year extension with the team this week. Getzlaf debuted with the Ducks in 2005. He went on to help them win the 2007 Stanley Cup. His new contract will last through the 2012-2013 season.
