Former senator John Ford has asked for another delay in before serving time in jail.

Former senator John Ford has asked for another delay in before serving time in jail. The father of four minors, ages 2-15, is asking for sole custody of his children while his wife, Tamara Mitchell-Ford is serving a 1-year sentence behind bars for her latest DUI conviction and probation violation.

A Memphis judge granted Ford’s request on Wednesday.

The ex-politician has been sentenced to five years in a Texas jail for his federal corruption conviction. However, Ford says that is 66-month sentence was inaccurately calculated according to federal guidelines.

Ford’s attorneys plan to appeal the sentencing.
