Rapper Drake is being accused of allegedly ripping off a jeweler’s design which has prompted a lawsuit against the Young Money/OVO rapper.
Reported on TMZ, New York jeweler Michael Raphael of Baden Baden, Inc. filed a lawsuit against Drake for his diamond studded Owl pendant.
Raphael claims he created the $50,000 jewelry for Drake based on a logo he’s been using for years.
Drake has fired back claiming that the jeweler doesn’t own the design citing that the owl is actually an ancient Egyptian hieroglyph.
The owl was used as a hieroglyph during the time that Pharaohs reigned in the area of Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt.
At one point the owl was the symbol for the letter “M,” thereby Drake claims in legal documents that it can’t be copyrighted and is asking the judge to throw out the lawsuit.
