One dad, who posted a picture of himself with one baby in a carrier on his chest while doing his other daughter’s hair that went viral on the Internet, has become the target of racial comments for the heartwarming photo.
Doyin Richards, a Los Angeles dad, posted the picture back in October to show his wife that he could handle caring for the baby while at the same time getting his older daughter’s hair done.
Richards, who has a blog called “Daddy Doin Work,” says one morning his wife was running late and thought he couldn’t handle their two daughters.
The picture of Doyin Richards and his two little girls shows otherwise as he is seen with his baby in a baby ‘chest’ carrier as he brushes his older daughter’s hair. The daughter getting her hair done is seen reaching over the sink.
Though the picture seems heartwarming to most, some comments were targeted at Richards’ skin complexion versus the skin complexion of his daughters, which is lighter than his.
The skin complexion difference may be the results of his half Japanese and half white wife.
In response to the negative comments, Richards posted his on version of Martin Luther King Jr’s “I Have A Dream” speech.
Richards version goes:
I have a dream that insecure dads will spend less time hating on good dads and more time on getting their own s--t together.
