What would you do if a bank error mistakenly puts $6.1 million into our bank account? Never happen huh? Well, that’s exactly what happened with Leo Gao, owner of a gas station in Rotorua, and his girlfriend Cara Young who were reported missing after a bank error mistakenly gave the couple 6 million dollars.
The New Zealand couple allegedly fled the country after an employee error at Westpac bank paid them 100 times the amount they asked for when the couple applied for an overdraft from Westpac bank worth up to $61,000. Instead of $61,000, they receieved $6.1 million into their bank account.
Reportedly, the next day, the gas station closed its doors and a day after that, the couple was gone.
Supposedly, $1.85 million of the money has been recovered by Westpac.
