Couple Expecting A Baby Killed in Mexico Shooting


Author Redelfs and Lesley Enriquez were killed along with their unborn child Saturday after leaving a party at the U.S. Consulate in Cuidad Juarez, Mexico.

Redelfs and Enriquez were driving home when a vehicle pulled up behind them and shot their car up. Enriquez was an employee at the U.S. Consulate,and was also pregnant with her second child.

Author and Lesley’s first daughter, who was also with them, was unhurt after the shooting stopped. Author, 35-years-old, and Lesley,34-years-old, were targeted by the local gang their known as Los Aztecas, who are said to work for the drug cartel in the city of Cuidad Juarez, Mexico.

No arrests what so ever have been made concerning the incident. Juarez is on the main battlefront in Mexico’s war with the drug cartel. Also later that same evening, after leaving the same party as Author and Lesley, another person, Jorge Alberto Salcido Cenicero, was killed. His wife was also an employee at the U.S. Consulate.

In 2009 alone more than 2,900 people were killed in Juarez. The attackers were specifically targeting U.S. Consulate members, but motives are unknown. Family and friends of Author and Lesley are deeply saddened by this tragic event. They’ll be dearly missed.
