Remember Dearick Stokes, convicted with first degree murder of Bryan Hatchett, well he was accidentally released back on the streets of Memphis Monday even though he was supposed to possibly spend the rest of his days in prison.
It was later discovered that Stokes had a domestic violence charge which was dropped on the 22th, and the computer didn’t show any other holds to keep Stokes in jail.
Authorities are calling this a system failure and are working on trying to fix what went wrong, and how someone like Derrick Stokes could’ve gotten through the cracks in the system.
The Bureau of Standards and Integrity are currently conducting an internal investigation to determine if the right procedures were being followed.
As for Derrick Stokes, there has been no news on his whereabouts or as to when he may be going back to prison.
