A convicted killer has been captured in Memphis after escaping a psychiatric hospital in New York.
Raymond Morillo was captured at a bus station in Memphis, TN this past Thursday night after he escaped from a Queens’ psychiatric hospital.
The 33 year-old convicted killer reportedly conned his way out of the psychiatric hospital by swapping clothes with a friend who was visiting him at the hospital.
Arrested and booked at 201 Poplar, Morillo is now back in jail after being convicted in 1998 for slashing the throats of two men with razor blades along with an accomplice, Ricardo Munquia, on a subway platform. The two victims were permanently disfigured as a result of an alleged retaliation for an incident with Munquia’s younger brother.
Following his conviction, Raymond Morillo was bailed out of jail and a man was shot dead during a confrontation with the accused killer and a group of alleged gang bangers.
Morillo completed a 14 year sentence, but was deemed unfit to be released to society and was sent to Creedmoor Psychiatric Center in Queens, New York.
Memphis Police were alerted by NYD of Morillo’s whereabouts at the Greyhound terminal after tracking his cellphone.
Raymond Morillo is due in Shelby County Courts on February 18, 2014.
