Former Memphis and Shelby County Music Commissioner, chairman of the musicians advisory council and Blues Musician, Billy Gibson, has deleted the Myspace page he created for the Memphis and Shelby County Music Commissioner after resigning.
Will this show the commission that they need to get themselves together if they plan to make a presence not only online, but also offline in the Community?
“We’ve got to get started,” commission chairman Ralph Sutton, a recording engineer and producer and studio operator told the newspaper, who is one of nine that has applied for the commission’s executive director job.
In a resignation e-mail to other commissioners, Gibson wrote: “The MySpace sites that I have created and administered for over a year will be shut down because I would hate to see them ignored and unattended to. This would send the wrong kind of message to our music community. If the commission is interested, it is easy enough to create a new MySpace site, and I encourage the commission to do so.”
Former commissioner Billy Gibson allegedly has been angry about the commission’s official web site which has been inactive since Rey Flemings left the Music Commission on last year.
One commissioner named Richard Cushing went to the point of volunteering to run the site, but Gibson allegedly told Cushing that it was better for the Commission to just start over.
Gibson also recently applied for the commission’s executive director job which the list of nine will be cut down to three and Mayor Willie Herenton will make his choice which will take place in about two weeks.
