The City of Memphis is set to host its official 901 Day Celebration on Sunday, September 1st, with a full day of events and activities designed to showcase the city’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant arts scene. This free, family-friendly event will feature special performances by headliner artist Big Boogie and legendary Memphis rapper Al Kapone, among others.
Starting from 11 a.m. and continuing until 5:30 p.m., the celebration will take place at Beale Street & Shell on Wheels, located at Beale and Third St. Attendees can look forward to:
- Gospel Hour: A spiritual and uplifting start to the day.
- Youth Talent Show: Showcasing the incredible talents of Memphis’ young performers.
- Fashion Show: Highlighting local designers and the latest trends.
- Poetry Readings: Featuring local poets sharing their works.
- Dancing: Expect a pop-up performance led by Ladia Yates of L.Y.E. Academy, incorporating Memphis’ iconic jookin’ dance style.
- Live Music Performances: Featuring a diverse lineup of local musicians and artists across multiple genres.
