On Thursday, a car chase, caught on video tape, ended in one death after the U.S. Capitol had to be placed under lock-down when a female suspect struck safety barriers with her black Infiniti luxury sedan near the White House.
Reportedly the woman drove her unauthorized vehicle to a White House checkpoint and hit a Secret Service agent as she fled the scene that resulted in a high-speed car chase that ended at the U.S. Capitol.
The suspect, Miriam Carey, 34, a dental hygienist of Stamford, Conn, allegedly suffered postpartum depression after having her baby last August, according to her mother Idella Carey. Carey reportedly had to be hospitalized months later after she got sick and was depressed.
Miriam Carey was shot and killed outside of the Hart Senate Office Building as her 1 year-old sat unharmed in the bullet riddled car in which she drove.
As for her 1-year-old daughter Erica, she was taken to the hospital and is stated to be in good condition and is under protective custody.
