Investigators are hoping now a picture and a tattoo identified from the parking lot surveillance video will link them with Wal-Mart rapist.
According to police, the rapist is believed to have planned the attack prior to it taking place by sitting around in his car.
“He definitely seemed like he had this planned. The surveillance videos that we observed showed him there well prior to (the attack). He was there casing the parking lot, casing people as they came and went, probably Wal-Mart itself. It looked like he was there for that reason,” Orange County Sheriff’s Office representative Phil Grades said. “When he made the approach to the victim, it looked like he knew exactly what he was about to do.”
The rapist forced the woman to drive behind the Wal-Mart store and raped her at gunpoint at around 6:15 am on John Young Parkway at Sand Lake Road. He even wanted more by demanding her credit card and pin number and then used it at a neary teller to retrieve money.
Since the incident, authorities are telling women that if they ever feel uneasy, they should ask a fellow shopper, police or employee to escort them in the parking lot. Other women are reporting that they have been taking rape aggression defense classes to fight back against predators.
The male suspect is described as weighing between 120 to 130 pounds, between 5’0″ and 5’2″, with short brown hair and a tattoo on his right arm that starts at the wrist and goes to the elbow and is believed to be riding in a four door silver Chevy or GMC Jimmy.
Anyone with information is asked to call the crime line at 1-800-423-TIPS.
