April 1st deemed Three 6 Mafia Day, group gets key to the City of Memphis

Three 6 Mafia will be back in Memphis to receive a key to the city this Saturday, which the day is deemed Three 6 Mafia Day.

This comes at a time when the Academy Award-winning group made an announcement to Commercial Appeal Tuesday that they are producing and recording tracks with Hilton for her upcoming music debut. According to Three 6 Mafia’s Jordan ‘Juicy J’ Houston, Paris Hilton asked to work with the Memphis rap group.

“We ran into her at a William Morris agency party and she said she liked our song ‘Stay Fly’ and asked could we work with her,” said Juicy J.

Houston goes on to say the group was in a Los Angeles recording studio Tuesday with the hotel heiress and Simple Life 3: Interns FOX reality TV star.

“We let her listen to a dance track and she really liked it and plans to record it tonight,” Houston told The Commercial Appeal newspaper by phone Tuesday.

Though according to the Commercial Appeal, the one thing Houston was ecstatic about was getting honored Saturday.

“Things are big for us right now and this day only makes it bigger,” he said.

The City of Memphis, Memphis and Shelby County Music Commission, Memphis Music Foundation, Memphis and Shelby County Film Commission and Memphis Grammy Chapter are just a few groups sponsoring the event, said Rey Flemings, president of the Memphis Music Foundation.

Three 6 Mafia Day will be privately held at the Memphis Rock ‘N’ Soul Museum from 5-7 p.m. Saturday.

The Memphis rap group will be given a key to the city during the event, according to Rey Flemings.
