When you think of High-Definition DVD you may think of Hollywood or Blockbuster movies or maybe even the video game Industry that’s also sparking but probably your last thoughts would be that the biggest battle of High-Def, the next generation format, would involve the Adult Film and Porn Industry. Well, this is true according to reports from AVN, adult news site. The rumors are also that Sony is banning Blu-ray disc manufactures from accepting adult content.

Blu-ray was the adult industries preferred standard as of last year but recent trends have changed the minds of some studios.

MacWorld reports that Wicked Pictures, one of the leading names in adult films, released the first HD DVD adult video at a trade show this week in Las Vegas.

“It’s a lot less expensive to use HD DVD,” said Jackie Ramos, vice president of DVD production at Wicked Pictures, at the Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas.

As with the past battle of Betamax versus VHS, it may now be HD DVD over Blu-ray as the adult film industry may once again be a determining factor in the next generation format.
