Reportedly, Memphis rap veterans and southern rap duo 8 Ball and MJG have been signed to Atlanta rapper T.I.’s label Grand Hustle. The announcement is stated to have been made on Saturday, June 14, 2008 during the 13th Annual Birthday Bash concert for Hot 107.9 by T.I. (T.I.P.) who shortly after making the announcement brought out the duo 8 Ball (Eightball) and MJG who performed in front of the sold out crowd at the Phillips Arena in Alanta, GA.
Others who attended/participated in the event included Young Jeezy, Usher, Monica, The Game, Shawty Lo, Bun B, Soulja Boy, Kanye West, Gorilla Zoe, Gucci Mane, Diamond (Crime Mob), amongst others.
In other news, previously reported on MemphisRap.com, MJG signed an independent label deal with 404 Music, Inc. headquartered in Atlanta in which he is expected to release the solo album “This Might Be the Day” on July 1st, 2008.
Previously the duo was signed to Sean “P. Diddy” Combs’ label Bad Boy in which they released Ridin’ High and Living Legends. Prior to signing with Bad Boy the group was signed under Suave House in which they released some of their hardest and grittiest albums to date such as Comin’ Out Hard (1993), Lyrics of a Pimp (1997), In Our Lifetime, Vol. 1 (1999) and others.
