On Saturday, tourists and frequent diners, of the Food Network featured restaurant Uncle Lou’s Fried Chicken in Memphis, TN, got more than a taste of good chicken and tea at the Whitehaven location — they also became witnesses to a shooting outside of the famous restaurant.
The South Memphis location at 3633 Millbranch Road near Winchester Rd became a haven of police after a 23 year-old male and a 21 year-old female suffered from gunshot wounds following the shooting incident outside of Uncle Lou’s restaurant.
According to reports, 23 year-old Dante Hence and 20 year-old Devon Carlock approached the two victims, who were sitting in the parking lot outside of the establishment. Allegedly, the two victims attempted to drive off as Hence tried to speak with them.
As the male victim started driving off in a red Dodge Neon, he was shot in the neck which led to him crashing into a pole. The young female victim, who was stated to be in shock and screaming, was shot in her left leg.
The female victim’s injuries are stated to have been non-life threatening, while the male victim, who was rushed to the Regional Medical Center, was last stated to have been in critical condition.
Dante Hence, who was later located by police, was charged with two counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder. Devon Carlock, who later turned himself over to cops, is being charged with two counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder and Employment of a Firearm during the Commission of a Dangerous Felony.
As for the patrons of Uncle Lou’s, many have said the shooting will not stop them from grabbing their favorite chicken and they’ll even cross the police tape just to get to it; meanwhile some frequent diners, who are a little shaken about the incident, say they’ll just take theirs to-go in the meantime.
