At a Cleveland, Ohio playground a 12 year-old boy named Tamir Rice who had a fake replica of a real gun was shot and killed by police who were called to the scene from a 911 call.
The police were responding to a call made by someone reporting that ‘a guy was pointing a gun at people.’
Though the caller mentioned twice that the gun was ‘probably fake,’ police officers responding to the call were reportedly not given that information.
Officers arriving on the scene saw a boy grab for what looked like a real gun from a park bench and put it inside of his waistband as they allegedly ordered him to put his hands in the air.
The 12 year-old Tamir Rice allegedly reached for his waistband as an officer opened fire on the pre-teen shooting him in the abdomen.
Rice was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center where he died during treatment.
