Tuesday morning, Christmas Day, a 10 year-old Memphis boy was killed by his older brother in an accidental shooting.
Alfreddie Gipson, 10, who was in a room with his 12 year-old brother was shot with a gun which was discovered in a bedroom they were playing in.
According to police, the adult who was reportedly in the room with the two children told authorities they didn’t know that they had the weapon until it went off.
Alfreddie Gipson was shot in the abdomen and was transported to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital where he was later pronounced dead after being admitted in extremely critical condition.
Meanwhile, neighbors in the 3200 block of Coleman Avenue say the family had not been at the residence not even a year and are heartbroken to see something like this happen to such a young boy.
The Memphis Police Department’s Homicide Bureau determined the shooting as accidental and The Attorney General’s Office will not be filing charges.
