A young man named Hussein Shabasi was shot to death with a gunshot to the head in Khan Younis after a truce was initiated. Gunmen initially shot the Hamas commander to death in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday and an Islamist group is now blaming a Fatah-dominated security service led by Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas for the the killing after the truce went into effect overnight.

The agreement was made on Monday inorder to end a fight where 33 people including 5 children had already died due to a power struggle between the two groups (Hamas and Fatah) since Jan. 25. The groups have been trying to form a unity government for months which has not yet succeeded. Since then, aid has been withheld by Western donors which have sent the Palestinian territories into a crisis.

It is stated that Hamas does not want to accuse Fatah, but if the crime was indeed commited by the Fatah members, they will be in violation of the ceasefire. The ceasefire requires Hamas and Fatah gunmen to release any and all hostages and Palestinian police to deploy in force.

Overnight an Israeli aircraft bombed a tunnel under the Gaza-Egypt border which the Israeli military stated that the tunnel would be used by Palestinian militants to attack Israeli targets.

The incident happened after a 20-year-old Palestinian suicide bomber from Gaza, struck the Israeli resort city of Eilat on Sunday, killing three people and himself.
