Memphis rappers Gangsta Boo and La Chat: The Women Who Helped Shape Southern Hip-Hop

Red Bull Music talks to some of the women responsible for shaping southern hip-hop such as Memphis female rappers La Chat and Gangsta Boo.

While some think La Chat and Gangsta Boo are newcomers to the hip-hop game, what they don’t realize is that these two women are just a special select few responsible for shaping what we know as Southern hip-hop music and have been known worldwide since the 90s.

The reason for the confusion that they are new acts, as we have seen trending online, is due to these ladies knowing how to keep up with modern times and how to keep their music up-to-date to the modern era. To put short, these two Memphis female rappers are ‘timeless.’ Not to mention the fact that neither Boo or Chat seem to have aged any. Let’s just call it good genes.

In a feature presented by Red Bull Music, which is Red Bull energy drink’s global music institution, the music institution revealed some of the women who have helped shaped Southern hip-hop music which includes Memphis’ very own Gangsta Boo, formerly of Three 6 Mafia, and La Chat, as well as other southern female rappers.
