UFC Fighter Thiago Silva Accused of Threatening To Kill Wife, MMA Trainer With Gun
UFC fighter Thiago Silva is accused of snapping and threatening his wife and a MMA fight trainer, who he apparently believed were having an affair.
According to police documents, Thiago Silva, 31, showed up to the gym of MMA instructor Pablo Popovitch in Florida and pulled out a gun on his wife and demanded that she bring out Pablo Popovitch or else he would go on a rampage and shoot everyone inside, which consisted of at least 25 students.
Pablo Popovitch reportedly ran outside to defend Silva’s wife and the two were then threatened by Silva, who allegedly told them he would kill them both.
Apparently Popovitch ran inside to call police and Silva left the premises.
According to reports, this isn’t the first incident with Thiago Silva, who a judge says is financially strapped and is now a flight risk.
In a prior incident, Thiago Silva is accused of shoving a gun in the mouth of his wife and threatening to kill her. After the incident, his wife took out a restraining order on him.
Now after a standoff with the SWAT team at his home, Thiago Silva was arrested and is being held in jail without bond by a local judge, who threw out his initial charge of attempted murder citing that there isn’t enough evidence.
The judge apparently explained that if Silva wanted to shoot his wife he would have, but he didn’t.
Silva has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.
