Trent Jeray Memphis Jookin Dancer in Pharrell Happy Music Video

MemphisRap.com has just learned that there was Memphis Jookin showcased by Memphis dancer Trent Jeray in Pharrell’s music video for the song Happy taken from the movie Despicable Me 2. The song “Happy” by Pharrell is up for a 2014 Academy Award for Best Original Song.

The Memphis Jookin dancer and Whitehaven High School graduate, Trent Jeray, says he has been getting a lot of people hitting him up after recognizing him in the video.

“It was an awesome experience,” says Trent who has been gaining new fans after appearing in the hour long video.

The Memphis hip hop dancer appears in Pharrell’s ‘Happy (3PM)’ version of the music video at around the 52 minute mark where he soon begins showcasing his Memphis Jookin dance skills while lip syncing to the song, as does others featured in the hour long music video.

As part of a promotional effort for the movie, Pharrell released a 24 hr long video of the song at 24HoursOfHappy.com promoted as “the world’s first 24 hour music video”.

As mentioned, the song is pending a Best Original Song award at the upcoming 2014 Academy Awards, set for March 2, 2014.

If Pharrell wins, he will become the third hip-hop act to win an Academy Award behind Three 6 Mafia who took home Best Original Song for “It’s Hard Out Here For A Pimp” from the Hustle & Flow movie soundtrack and Eminem for the song “Lose Yourself” from the “8 Mile” movie soundtrack.
