Nun Gives Birth To 9 lb Baby In Italy After Being ‘Unaware’ She Was Pregnant

A nun from El Salvador who says she had no idea she was pregnant has given birth to a baby boy after being rushed to the hospital in Italy for stomach pains.

The 31 year-old woman, who is not being named, was rushed to a hospital in the central Italian city of Rieti after experiencing what she thought was stomach cramps.

After arriving at the hospital, the nun was told she was in labor.

Hours later the 31 year-old nun, who lives at the Little Disciples of Jesus convent, gave birth to a nine pound baby boy.

The nun named her newborn son Francesco (Francis) after the current Pope.

The Salvadorian nun says she didn’t know she was pregnant saying, “I only felt a stomach pain.”

The local pastor Don Fabrizio Borrello along with the nuns of the convent say though the birth came as quite a ‘surprise,’ the nun is planning to take care of her child.

The Catholic nun has now been identified as 31 year-old Roxana Rodriguez.
