Two brothers are accused of jumping and injuring (4) Memphis Police officers who were monitoring the Beale Street entertainment district on Sunday.
When Myrus Williams was refused entrance into Club 152 on Beale Street in Downtown Memphis over the weekend due to wearing just an undershirt, the 34 year-old man was allegedly then told to leave Beale Street to prevent people from loitering in the street.
Allegedly, after Williams was told to leave, his brother Mario Bills, 21, confronted Officer Kenneth Gibbs and punched him in the face and allegedly tried to remove a handgun from the holster of another officer.
As officers tried to detain Bills, Williams reportedly jumped in the fight by charging at the officers from behind. To gain order, the police resulted to spraying pepper spray at both men.
In all, the two brothers allegedly injured four police officers who were trying to keep the entertainment district clear of loiterers. Two officers suffered a number of bruises that were treated on-location. However, Officer Gibbs’ injury was a little more serious as he is stated to have suffered an injury to the shoulder.
Big brother Myrus Williams was charged with two counts of assault on an officer with a bond of $100. Mario Bills was charged with aggravated assault on an officer and three counts of assault/bodily harm with a bond of $30,000.
Both brothers, who have bonded out of jail, are due back in court on June 25th.
