Human Trafficking Making Rounds In Mid-South From Craigslist To Backpage

The F.B.I has recently been investigating a human trafficking ring in the Mid-South. Women, men, and children are being sold for sex exploitation and forced labor over the internet.

The internet is the number one place that these slave ads are being posted. The first site to be investigated was Craigslist but once the site learned of the illegal activity the ads were removed. Now the ads are listed on Backpage.com. This website has refused to remove the ads but said they have improved their security and are against an illegal activity.

But this activity is illegal — these people are being forced into this slavery. They are either fooled into believing that they are being employed legitimately or are beaten and threatened with extreme physical harm and loss of their lives and are afraid to leave the traffickers.

The slave trades are reportedly taking place in places that hit close to home for many of our readers such as the Wolfchase Mall area due to its proximity to the interstate and wealth of the people surrounding that area. Also, allegedly, the Memphis International airport because of all the wealthy business men traveling alone.
