A Helping Hand: The Memphis Music Resource Center opens its doors
The Memphis Music Resource Center is now open and is starting off with good intentions of helping artists bring their minds and music to the next level. Their programs provide guidance, education, connections, and resources to help any industry professional or enterprising artist grow. They are a non-profit, membership organization which means membership is free! Various private/public foundations, such as the Memphis Music Foundation and Fast Forward, fund the center. The resource center is directed by Cameron Mann, He is a part of the Memphis and Shelby County Music Commission and The Memphis Music Foundation. Cameron is more popularly known as Lord T from the rap duo, Lord T and Eloise out of Memphis.
With there location right off of South Main street in downtown Memphis,
They have made all of these resources easily available. Once you enter the door, thier staff’s main concern is helping you choose the best path to achieve your goals. You will fill out an individual profile form that shows what genre of music your involved with, your short-term and long-term goals, and how they can help you. Once you have completed that , they will help you pull together any info you might need. In other words, this place is extremely useful!
In the next year, they plan to have frequent workshops for things such as: computer software, “how to” and “hands on” guidance, music engineering, and basic audio and video. Cameron also plans to have musicians, DJ’s, engineers, ect. come visit from other cities to perform these workshops. They will have an email newsletter and website set up soon to keep every member informed about what’s new with the center. They seem to have a good plan set up for the Memphis music community and I hope all of you in need will use this resource center to your advantage.
