Well the time is here and Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter III” has officially sold a million its first week on the charts, according to Billboard Magazine. Numbers for the album will be made official when Nielsen SoundScan issues chart reports today (June 18). Billboard states that, Lil Wayne becomes the first artist since 50 Cent’s “The Massacre” in March 2005 to sell more than 1 million copies of an album in a single week.

The closest to follow the one million mark in ’07 was Kanye West’s “Graduation,” which sold 957,000 copies which hit store shelves on Sept. 11 (9/11).

Lil Wayne biggest sales week was 238,000-unit for “Tha Carter II” in 2005.

On yesterday, June 17, 2008, a video of Lil Wayne hit the internet thanking everyone for buying Tha Carter III. “Yall did that, she said we did it [his boss], yall did that. I didn’t do nothing… I just recorded it,” he humbly says.

At the end of the video, Wayne says “Gettin’ back to work. Carter IV,” which possibly hints he’s working on a fourth album for the Tha Carter series.
