Three 6 Mafia Wants Lawsuit Dismissed; Crunchy Black & Koopsta Knicca Still in Court

Three 6 Mafia (DJ Paul & Juicy J) wants the lawsuit for allegedly inciting a Pittsburgh nightclub fight, that seriously injured alleged victim Ramone Williams, dismissed. In the incident, which actually took place back in August of 2003, Williams claims two associates of Three Six Mafia (Robert “Koopsta Knicca” Cooper and Darnell Darnell “Crunchy Black” Carlton) provoked fans to start fights with the person next to them which in turn caused him to be assaulted during the performance of their song “Let’s Start A Riot” at the Rock Jungle Night Club in Pittsburgh, PA.

Three 6 Mafia’s attorney, John E. Hall, says that Three 6 Mafia’s lyrics to “Let’s Start A Riot” are protected under the First Amendment and last week, a motion was filed in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court asking for a summary judgment that would dismiss the law suit. Mr. Hall challenged Williams’ complaint, saying there is no “genuine issue of material fact”.

In April 2005, Paul “DJ Paul” Beauregard and Jordan “Juicy J” Houston were voluntarily released from the law suit by Williams who stated DJ Paul and Juicy J were not present at the time of the assault, and thus should not be sued.

Williams had already won a default judgment against the Rock Jungle Night Club which was closed.

Meanwhile, both Darnell Darnell “Crunchy Black” Carlton and Robert “Koopsta Knicca” Cooper remain as defendants in the suit along with former Three Six Mafia member Ricky “Scarecrow” Dunigan.

In related news, Crunchy Black who is also now a former Three 6 Mafia member has found a new home according to Nick Scarfo, CEO of Prophet Entertainment Camp, the origin label of Three 6 Mafia (DJ Paul & Juicy J) and most it’s original members. “It’s official, Crunchy Blac and Gangsta Boo are with Prophet Camp and the new Prophet Posse Camp mixtapes and albums are coming soon to put Memphis back where it belongs,” stated Nicky Scarfo in a recent interview with MemphisRap.com. Meanwhile, fans are highly anticipating Crunchy Blac’s upcoming solo album expected soon.
