June: The Celebration of Black Music
African Americans have produced a number of great inventions for the United States of America. From the time when African Americans were brought to this country, they have been dancing and celebrating their culture in a way never seen before. It is that warm spirit that turned into the music that we know and love today.
On May 25th President Bush declared June Black Music Month, in which the contributes that African Americans have made to music in this country will be celebrated. African Americans have added rich culture to this country through music. From rhythm and blues, gospel, jazz and rock, to the music of today, hip-hop. There is no doubt that recognition should be given to this race of talented musicians.
During the month of June, many companies will be celebrating Black Music Month in their own way. BET is having their annual Bet Awards, which will be live on June 27th hosted by Damon Wayans. Target and Def Jam have teamed together to show their appreciation. Beginning May, 28th Def Jam will release the
