Behind the Memphis Music Kingdom: Setting the Record Straight

LDaialogue writes Memphis, Tennessee has seen success from many different avenues, but none as consistent as its music. In the ancient city of Memphis, Menes was its first king around 3100 B.C. His principle acheievement was unifying Upper and Lower Egypt into one kingdom. His strength came from the collective essence of knowing that division only worked against progress.

In modern-day Memphis, at least in the essence of rap music, this principle is far from practice. It is widely known that Memphis, Tennessee has one of the richest musical heritages in the nation. Many know it as the birthplace of the blues. Despite being the home of Elvis Presley, Memphis rap music emerged as a legitimate antithesis to his legacy and became a strong culture within itself in the city.
